Proposed PHA and Servite Merger - Have Your Say!
You may have heard that Servite Housing Association is talking to Perthshire Housing Association about a possible merger. Perthshire Housing Association are a Perth based social landlord of similar size to Servite Housing Association, with approximately 1400 properties.
The proposed merger would bring together a wealth of knowledge and expertise from both landlords, and put the new, merged organisation in a better position to continue building new affordable housing. Other potential benefits include better, more efficient delivery of existing services; more scope for expanding and developing specialist services such as benefits advice and tenancy support; and potential to provide services such as repairs and maintenance 'in house'.
An independent Business Case for the proposed merger has been prepared by Tribal Consultants. This has been considered in detail by both of the Management Boards, and a first draft was recently approved at a special meeting between Servite Housing Association and Perthshire Housing Association. A second draft of the Business Case is now being considered by both organisations, and if this is approved, a Business Plan will be drafted to set out the next stages of the merger process in more detail.
The Association has taken steps to ensure tenants and residents are consulted at every stage of the merger process, and we are keen to hear your views on the proposals. The Tenants Information Service (TIS) has been appointed to act as an independent tenant and resident advisor, and initial discussions between the Tenants and TIS were generally positive.
