Very sheltered housing

We have a small number of very sheltered housing units in Dundee and Perthshire with an extra care unit in Fife.
Very sheltered housing provides accommodation for older people who want to retain the independence of their own home whilst receiving help with meals and personal support.

Our homes

Our very sheltered housing units are flats, some are bed sits and others have one or two bedrooms. All are self contained with en suite toilet and shower. Each development has a bathroom where carers can help with bathing. There are more staff present than in sheltered housing, including through the night, and there is an alarm system for people who require urgent attention.

Communal facilities

Very sheltered housing units also benefit from the provision of communal facilities. We are committed to providing the highest standards to areas where our residents can meet and socialise. Each of our very sheltered units has a residents' lounge where meals are taken, well maintained grounds and plenty of garden areas.

Support services

Within very sheltered housing Servite provides a range of support services to meet the needs of our residents. These include: -

  • Presence of a scheme manager
  • Delivery of a mutually agreed support plan
  • Housing management duties to help residents maintain their home and tenancy
  • Support duties to help residents maintain their independence
  • Laundry facilities
  • Meals service
  • Various social activities

Domiciliary home help services can also be provided by on site staff in very sheltered schemes and can be arranged by the scheme manager. So if routine household tasks are getting a bit too difficult we can provide a support package tailor-made to meet individual needs.

People in very sheltered housing do not need residential care and often other agencies will come into our schemes to provide more intensive care.
